I felt it here in San Francisco. Seemed to last a long time. I've lived here for 7 years and its the strongest one I have felt yet.

... in Ben Lomond. First one for the 7 year old, scared him pretty good, he even dove under the dining room table.

Re:5.6 Earthquake Near Alum Rock Tonite 17 Years, 6 Months ago
I think I can call myself a Californian now?

It's official. I've been blue (politically, not mood, necessarily) for a while, now. But as of Tuesday night, I've been thru an earthquake!

Although the epicenter was about an hour and a half south of me (and across a sizable body of water), I still got to feel the rumble in Sonoma. It was more like a little wavy gravy, by the time it got up here...but I thought I was losing my mind, for about 5 seconds or so, as the house felt like it was either tied up to a dock (and another boat had just come thru) or it was part of a fun house (and I should start looking for a place to grab hold of).

It was over before I knew it, and then I thought about calling the neighbor to say "help, my house is moving!!". But then I thought, "maybe I didn't eat enough today, and this is what hypoglycemia feels like". Then I had a real thought, checked the internet, and sure enough...it was indeed, an earthquake.

In any case, what a wild experience! And on that note, I think I'll crack open one of the (red) reasons, I'm here. : )

ps - my friends from the South keep calling and asking if I'm making it thru all the natural disasters. They, who live amongst floods, hurricanes, flying cock roaches and mosquitos the size of birds...

It's not Southern...but it'll have to do.

Rock & roll in Santa Cruz 17 Years, 6 Months ago
I was in Santa Cruz on business and felt it in the motel while on the phone to a friend at home. Pretty good one. Lasted 10-15 seconds. Of course a little bit more shake in a second story motel room!

By the 4th glass you probably would have thought it was just you trying to find your way through the house

Hang around. They get better! I think the strongest one I felt from a distance was the one that dropped the Bay bridge. We felt that one real strong clear up in Twain Harte. I was on a drafting chair with wheels and started rolling across the room.
